- How to set keyboard emulation to input characters?
- Where is the keyboard emulation input character configuration barcode?
- How to adjust the keyboard emulation input character parameters?
Resolution / Answer
This setting is used to adjust the character encoding recognition or output method of scanned code data. Usually when Chinese, special characters or multi-language content displays garbled characters, you need to select an appropriate character set based on the host system and barcode encoding.
When keyboard emulation for character input is turned on, characters will be sent via the numeric keypad, regardless of the national keyboard layout setting. This mode also requires setting the __Code Page selection__ and the __Unicode output__. Code Page determines the target language, and the Unicode output setting controls whether the input encoding method to the host is Unicode or Code Page.

ASCII characters between 0x00~0x1F are output according to the "Control Character Output" function setting.
This sending method ensures that any character can be transmitted smoothly, but it is slower because there are too many simulated keystrokes to transmit each character.
Assume that the current scanner Code Page is Code Page 1252 (Latin, Western Europe), and the scanner reads the barcode with the content "AÐF" (the decimal values in Code Page 1252 are 65/208/70 respectively).
If the keyboard emulation input character is set to "on" and the Unicode output is set to "off", the scanner simulates the keyboard operation as follows: input "A" - press the ALT key, press the numeric keypad keys 0, 6, 5 in sequence at the same time, release the ALT key
Input "Ð" - Press the ALT key, press the numeric keypad keys 2, 0, 8 in sequence at the same time, release the ALT key
Enter "F" - press the ALT key, press the numeric keypad keys 0, 7, 0 in sequence at the same time, release the ALT key
__Code Page__
Code Page defines the mapping of character codes to characters. If the data received does not display the correct characters, it may be because the barcode being scanned was created using a different code page than the host program expects. If this is the case, please scan the following configuration barcode and select the code page to create the barcode (if it is a barcode such as PDF417, QR Code, Data Matrix, etc., you also need to set the corresponding __character encoding method__ in the __Barcode Parameter Setting__ chapter). Once set, barcode data characters should display correctly. The "Code Page selection" function only takes effect after the keyboard emulation character input function is turned on. Default: Code Page 1252 (Latin, Western Europe).

__Unicode output__
Different application software also has requirements for the character encoding it receives. For example, MS Office's Word uses Unicode encoding, and Unicode output needs to be set to "on"; while MS Office's Excel or Notepad uses Code Page encoding, and Unicodes output needs to be set to "off". The "Unicode output" function only takes effect after the keyboard emulation character input function is turned on. Default: off.

__Leading "0"__
Turn on the "leading '0'" feature to send character sequences sent via the numeric keypad as lSO characters with leading 0's. For example, ASCll "A" is transmitted as "ALT MAKE" 0065 "ALT BREAK". This feature only works when "Keyboard emulation input characters" is enabled.
