Resolution / Answer
This setting is used to control the reading, verification, length or output rules of the specified barcode type. It is usually used when certain types of barcodes cannot be scanned, the misreading rate is high, or when it is necessary to limit the reading of barcodes in specific formats.
Both UPC-A and EAN-13 symbologys can come with coupon extension codes.
There are 3 types of coupons:
u UPC-A starting with 5 + GS1-128
u UPC-A starting with 5 + GS1 Databar
u EAN-13 starting with 99 + GS1-128
The latter part is called Coupon extension.
When set to __off__, when UPC-A, EAN-13, UCC/EAN-128, and GS1 Databar are enabled, the previous part of UPC-A or EAN-13 can still be read.
When set to __Allow connection__, there are two possible situations: 1. If both parts are read, then both are output; 2. If only one of the two is read, one is output.
When set to __must be connected__, there will be output only when both parts before and after are read.
