This article introduces the use and configuration method of "hardware handshake". Usually refer to this article when you need to change the default behavior of the device, adapt to the business system, or find the corresponding configuration barcode.
The data interface consists of a serial port that operates with or without RTS (request to send) and CTS (clear to send) hardware handshake lines.
If "Standard RTS/CTS handshake" is not selected, scan data will be transmitted as soon as it is available. When "Standard RTS/CTS Handshake" is selected, scan data is transmitted in the following order:
The decoder reads the CTS line status. If CTS is set, the decoder will wait for the host to release CTS according to "Host Serial Port Response Timeout" at most. If CTS is still set after the timeout (default), the decoder issues a transmission error and discards all scanned data.
After CTS is released, the decoder sets the RTS line and waits for the host to set CTS by pressing "Host Serial Port Response Timeout" at most. Once the master asserts CTS, data transfer begins. If CTS is not set after a timeout (default), the decoder issues a transmission error and discards the data.
- When the data transfer is complete, the decoder deasserts RTS 10 ms after sending the last character.
- The host responds by deactivating CTS. The decoder checks the CTS deactivation status again on the next data transfer.
- CTS should remain set during data transfer. If CTS is released for more than 50 ms between characters, the decoder aborts transmission and issues a transmission error, discarding the data.
If the above communication sequence fails, the decoder reports an error. At this point the data is lost and must be rescanned.
If both hardware handshake and software handshake are enabled, hardware handshake takes priority.
Note: DTR signal is set to valid state through jumper.

- **RTS/CTS option 1**: The decoder sets RTS before transmission and ignores CTS status; deasserts RTS after transmission is completed.
- **RTS/CTS Option 2**: RTS is always high or low (user programmed logic level), but the decoder waits for CTS to be asserted before transmitting data. If CTS is not set within the host serial port response timeout (default), the decoder reports an error and discards the data.
- **RTS/CTS option 3**: The decoder sets RTS before any data transmission, regardless of CTS status. At most, the host serial port response timeout (default) waits for CTS to be set; if it is not set, the decoder reports an error and discards the data; RTS is released after the transmission is completed.
