This article introduces the purpose and configuration method of "software handshake". Usually refer to this article when you need to change the default behavior of the device, adapt to the business system, or find the corresponding configuration barcode.
This parameter provides data transfer control in addition to (or in place of) the hardware handshake, and has 5 options.
If software handshake and hardware handshake are enabled at the same time, hardware handshake takes precedence.
- **None**: Data is transmitted immediately, no response from the host is expected.
- **ACK/NAK**: The decoder expects an ACK or NAK reply from the host after transmitting data. When a NAK is received, the decoder resends the same data and waits for an ACK or NAK again. After receiving 3 consecutive NAKs, the decoder reports an error and discards the data.
The decoder waits for an ACK or NAK up to a programmable "Host Serial Port Response Timeout". If no response is received within the timeout period, the decoder reports an error and discards the data; no retry occurs after the timeout period.
- **ENQ**: The decoder waits for an ENQ character from the host before transmitting data. If an ENQ is not received within the host serial port response timeout, the decoder reports an error and discards the data. The host must send an ENQ at least once every 1 timeout period to avoid transmission errors.
- **ACK/NAK with ENQ**: A combination of the above two options. When data is retransmitted due to a NAK from the host, there is no need to send an ENQ again.
- **XON/XOFF**: The XOFF character turns off the decoder's transmission until XON is received. There are two situations for XON/XOFF:
- The decoder receives XOFF before it has data to send. When the decoder has data to send, it will wait for the XON according to the host serial port response timeout at most before transmitting; if the XON is not received within this time, the decoder will report an error and discard the data.
- Decoder received XOFF during transmission. Stops transmission after sending the current byte; continues sending the remainder of the message after the XON character is received. Wait for XON for any amount of time.
